Mr. Bishwajit Kumar Singh is from the 1989 batch of the Indian Forest Service (IFS) J&K cader.
He possesses Masters of Science (Forestry) from Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy, Dehradun and got Masters in Public Policy and Management with specialization in Econometrics and Environmental Economics from Institute of Social Science, The Hague, Netherland.
He took over the charge of Commissioner, NVS on 7th September, 2015. he introduced transparent and effective procedure for regular transfer/posting and recruitment in NVS. He is the pioneer of digital revolution in NVS, in terms of implementing e-office in HQrs,effecting Annual Transfer Drive through online portal, online registration of students for Jawahar Navodaya Selection Test & Lateral
Entry Test. He also ensured computer based test for recruitment of staff. He ensured conducive atmosphere for academic excellence in JNVs and expedited completion of construction works in pending projects. His constant efforts resulted in getting approval of the Government for opening of 62 new JNVs in the year 2016 and grant of 10% special allowance to teaching staff of JNVs. He is very keen for holistic development of the JNV students, their safety, security & comforts in the campus of JNVs and dedicates his energy towards this achievement.
Before joining the present post, he worked as Director in Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Govt. of India and has helped in formulation and approval of Green India Mission in February, 2014.He also made forest clearances more time bound and transparent.
In his spare moments he likes to read books and more interested in teaching and guiding the staff and students.
